There is no miracle cure for losing tummy fat otherwise known as belly fat except for major liposuction and tummy tucks as it takes a long time to lose fat from your midsection. The best way to lose this excess fat is through regular cardiovascular exercise.
A casual walk is not enough to lose weight. Depending on your weight, you have to exercise for at least 15 to 20 minutes per day, for five days a week. The best exercises that you can do include: fast walking, swimming, jogging, aerobic dancing and use of ski machines, bicycles or stair steppers.
Work up a peak heart rate
To lose your tummy fat, you have to work up a peak heart rate. It's better to first check with your doctor about your peak heart rate, and before starting any exercise program, especially if you suffer from health problems like diabetes and high blood pressure.
Generally, you reach your peak heart rate after 15 minutes of warming up. It's faster and easier to reach your peak heart rate if you work more than one major muscle group together like your arms and legs. It's thus better and more effective to do aerobic dancing or swimming than riding a bike to lose tummy fat.
Work your stomach muscles
In addition to this, you have to do exercises that work your stomach muscles. It is only if you manage to build muscle mass in your body will it be easy for you to efficiently burn more calories, and in the process reduce fat storage. In a bid to strengthen their stomach muscles and lose belly fat, many people do abdominal crunches. However they don't do it right.
Even doing Pilates twice or thrice a week, or using a weight machine helps reduce tummy fat. Pilates also help trim and reduce fat in other problem areas like thighs and hips. In case you don't have the time to do a full Pilates' class, even doing 15 minutes of abdomen targeted exercises help. However you can't reduce this excess belly fat with just abdomen exercises, you also need to do some fat-burning cardiovascular exercises. A combination of both exercises helps you quickly lose tummy fat.
Follow a healthy diet and reduce stress
It's not enough to just exercise; you also have to be careful with your diet. Don't eat more food than your body requires. Many people eat more of junk food and add unnecessary calories to their diet. A better option is a diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, carbohydrates and proteins that are preferably steamed or grilled instead of fried.
Stress can also lead to the accumulation of fat around the stomach. So it's possible to lose fat by de-stressing through various relaxation techniques like prayers and deep breathing. If you are under stress without any outside stressors, it may signify that you suffer from chemical imbalances in the body. In such cases, the problem is best addressed with a physician's help who will be able to restore the right chemical balance in the body and help reduce stress in the body to thus help you lose tummy fat.
